| 44 RF; 50% blue, very good bore, good stock, 24'' barrel, Manufactured between 1839 - 1864 by Frank Wesson. It is a Top-Break Single-Shot Rifle with Trigger Activated Barrel Latch. Chambered in .44 Rimfire. The top of the octagon barrel is marked "J. CUTLER FULLER SHANGAE / PAT'D OCT 25, 1859 & NOV. 11, 1862". The serial number is on the trigger guard. The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a folding V sight The buttstock is a one-piece walnut with straight grip and a blued steel buttplate. The stock has scattered nicks, dings, scrapes, and scratches. It has a very short crack on the left lower corner where the receiver and stock meet. The LOP measures 14″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has gone to a light patina with scattered wear. The bore is in very good condition and bright. The metal finish has edge wear on the sides of the octagon barrel, The receiver and trigger guard has silvered out. The action functions correctly. The barrel is released with the front trigger only when the hammer is at half-cock. Overall, in very good condition. ANTIQUE, s/n 66xx |
