| 12 Gauge; 92% blue, very good+ bore, very good stock, 30'' barrel, Cased English Anson & Deeley boxlock double with ejectors. Blued finish steel barrels with 2 7/8 inch chambers, Full and Cylinder chokes. Concave smooth rib with silver bead sight. Engraved on top of the rib "GEORGE GIBBS BRISTOL E 35 SAVILE ROW LONDON. W". The barrels have been refinished, fine work done long ago. Coin finish action with fine English scroll engraving, blued bottom plate and trigger guard. The bottoms of the chambers are stamped with nitro proofs and crown/P and V proofs. Moderately figured fancy walnut stock with checkered English straight grip. Checkered flats. 15 inch length of pull with serrated hard plastic buttplate fitted. The stock has a slight offset. Silver oval inlay on bottom of butt engraved with initials J R / A R. Checkered walnut forend with push button release, blued mounts with English scroll. 6 lbs. Mechanically fine with tight lock-up. Small spots of finish wear on the barrels at the muzzle and around the bolster areas. Our import mark appear on the water table. Accompanying this gun is an original George Gibbs leather trimmed case with maroon felt lined fitted interior. Inside the case is a period oil bottle marked on the base by James Dixon & Sons Sheffield. Two sections of wooden cleaning rods. And two vintage snap caps. Letters painted on the lid "W.R.P.D.". The case shows wear inside and out. The case handle has been repaired using metal mounts replacing old sewn leather mounts. Straps and buckles are intact. Locking clasp functions fine., s/n B62xx |
