| Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen-Foche maker, marked on the left side of the blade, right side with clearly etched slogan "Blood and Honor", and near the ricasso with thre RZM mark, date 1936 and makers code M.7/67. Overall the 5 3/8" blade is pretty good and well marked. However it has been used, with several tiny nicks along the edge and some rather minor spotting. But has not been sharpened. The checkered composite handles are in good conditio with no excessive wear and the HJ diamond is very good. Dulled guard and pommel with wear on the right side of the pommel from rubbing on the hangers snap rivet. The scabbard retains approx 70% or the original paint, lots of scratches and paint chipping. Small splits are starting at the front and rear top corners. The leather hanger is good, remains supple with intact snap. Bit of cracking at the fold at the top of the hanger. Overall a decent early HJ dagger. |
