| 8mm; 80% blue, very good bore, good stock, 19'' barrel, WWII Japanese Type 38 5th Series Carbine. S/N 74942. The Floor Plate, Firing Pin, Bolt, Dust Cover, Safety and front band are all numbers matching. Was manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal. The front sight is an inverted V with guards and the rear is an open V with folding leaf. Graduated in 100 meters increments from 400 meters to 2000 meters. The top of the receiver has an intact Chrysanthemum and characters signifying Type 38 stamped on top. It has a blued cleaning rod. The metal finish has scattered patina overall. The stock has numerous handling marks, compression dings and scratches. It’ been thru a war. The bayonet has a 15 ½ in single edge blade, and a 12 in blood groove. The finish is very dark with mild patina The reverse of Ricasso has a Nagoya arsenal stamp. The grips are worn but not cracked. The pummel release button works. The metal scabbard has patina mild pitting and a couple of dents, the finish is very worn. The consignee states his father brought this rifle back from the war. The original sling is included, but is in pieces., s/n 749xx |
