| 10 Gauge; excellent bore, very good stock, 31 13/16'' barrel, This set includes the hammerless sidelock frame which was restored by Buck Hamlin of Missouri, and the orignal hammer frame and stock. Both frames match the barrels by number, indicating the gun was sent back to the factory to be fitted up with the hammerless frame at some point. Browned Damascus barrels, casehardened frame and lockplates, mounted in a select walnut stock with a checkered english straight grip fitted with a partly serrated plastic buttplate and checkered forearm with an ebony tip. LOP is 13.75 inches. The left barrel is stamped on top "L.C. SMITH, MAKERS, SYRACUSE, N.Y." and the right barrel is stamped on top "DAMASCUS STEEL BARRELS". The barrels have been shortened to length. Features a single trigger and is stamped on the bottom of the trigger guard tang next to the trigger "HUNTER ONE TRIGGER". The barrel is fitted with glass front and center beads. The bottom of the stock has a brass shield inlay with a previous owners initials engraved. The grain shows through on the barrels nicely and mechanically the gun is tight. The original casehardened hammer frame has turned an even grayish patina and shows some minor pin prick pitting here and there. The stock has been sanded at some point, with a repair to a minor crack behind the upper tang, and is missing a shield pattern name plate originally on the bottom. The stock is fitted with the original hard rubber buttplate and grip cap. The actions function fine. Includes a contemporary Storm Case hardcase with foam interior fitted for the barrels and both frames. C&R/FFL, s/n 159xxE |
