| 303 British; Good bore, good stock, 30.25'' barrel, Original markings on the right side of the frame CROWN/VR ENFIELD/1881/III with a downgrade to 2, which is cancelled. The left side of the frame is marked CROWN/VR ENFIELD/1896/M.E. 303/I. Several British proofs with rework dates 1890 and 1893. Sale markings on the barrel, frame and stock. The right side of the buttstock has a faint roundel cartcouche and other rework markings. Missing the front sight blade and cleaning rod. Worn metal finish with some pitting on the barrel, bands and forend tang. The walnut stock has been sanded and there is a gap between the frame and lower end of the forend. Mechanically fine. The bore shows some wear to the rifling, the muzzle remains tight, with some frost in the grooves. Antique., s/n 35xxC |
