| 8x57mm; 80% blue, good bore, good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Standard Model 98 Mauser rifle, part of approximately 3,900 rifles issued by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German Reich Railway) for railway police and security guards, Stamped on the left side of the butt with the DR cartouche which carrys the rifles serial number, along with the stylized reversed 3 with Z and 9 stamps. The rifle has the standard Mauser markings on the left reciever wall, banner logo over the date 1934 on top of the receiver ring, and commercial crown/B, U, G, and N proofing. Serial numbers are matching on the rifle and bolt. Has an original leather sling which is in good condition and cleaning rod. Metal and wood show some expected wear and handling for its age, the bore has strong rifling with light corrosion along the grooves. This particular rifle is listed and pictured in the book Karabiner 98K Volume I by Bruce Karem and Michael Steves on pgs 174 and 189., s/n C32xx |
