| 8x57mm; 97% blue, very good+ bore, very good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Portuguese contract 937-A Short Rifle manufactured by Mauser-Werke in Oberndorf Germany in 1937. These rifles were basically the standard K98k rifles being made in Germany, small differences being the addition of sling swivels on the bottom of the lower band and bases for detachable swivels on the bottom and left side of the butt. Differed also in the protective ears on the front sight base. Original blued finish and walnut stock. Portuguese crest marked over the chamber above the 1937 date. Rifle is all matching down to the rear action screw and cleaning rod, front action screw is not marked. Mauser eagle/63 and eagle/WaA63 proofs appear on most all small parts. Nazi eagle/swaztika acceptance marks located on the left side of the barrel and receiver ring. The right side of the receiver ring is stamped with three eagle/63 proofs. The stock has scattered small dings and scratches, with strong proofs on the right side of the butt, two stick eagle/WaA63 proofs and an eagle/swaztika acceptance mark. Two faint stick eagle/WaA63 proofs appear on the bottom behind the trigger guard and front of the grip. A very exceptional example of a hard to find Mauser rifle.
