| 8x57mm; 80% blue, fair bore, very good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Original pre-war commercial manufacture with crown/BUG proofing. Blued finish. Walnut stock with finger groove forend. Fixed front and tangent rear sights. Matching numbers except the rear sight leaf. Mauser banner stamped on top of the receiver ring. Straight handle bolt. Bolt shroud is not numbered, safety has an Imperial proof mark. Stock is numbered along the end of the left side butt. Buttplate stamped with matching number. No import marks found. These rifles were sold commercially in Germany to various police agencies. Many were used by German troops in Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Some saw use in the Chaco War in Bolivia. And China was a purchaser of the Standard Modell short rifles. Leather sling attached. Cleaning rod. No chamber date. Metal finish turning a slight patina. The bore has strong rifling, worn at the muzzle, with rust/corrosion throughout., s/n B416xx |
