| 54 Cal; poor bore, fair stock, 8.5'' barrel, Original and very rare example, marked on the side of the lock with the circular Palmetto Armory/S star C around a palmetto tree motif, and at the rear of the lockplate "COLUMBIA/S.C. 1852". The left side of the barrel on the flat is marked "Wm GLAZE & CO", above which is are V, P and palmetto tree proofs. The barrel tang is stamped with the date "1853". The ramrod and swivel hinge have been removed, this evidently done long ago as there is no sign of more recent removal, and was done occasionally in the field due to damage. The barrel and other iron parts have spotting and pitting. Original brass blade front sight. Brass mounted walnut stock, the left side flat has old carved previous owners initial "P.". The stock is oil soaked with many dings and dents, a crack on the left between the tieplate or sideplate and barrel, and chips behind and around the lockplate. The lock functions well.
