Description:
30 Luger; 99% blue, 100% straw, like new bore, like new grips, 4'' barrel, The Renato Gamba company in Italy placed an order for 1000 Mauser Luger pistols circa 1975, however only about 150 were sent, the other pistols sold to the USA market without the special Gamba markings. This particular pistol is interesting as it conforms to the P08 style Luger, complete with stock lug on the back grip frame, while the pistols ordered and sent to the Gamba company had the 06/73 feature of a grip safety and no stock lug. This pistol has the standard Gamba markings, the top of the toggle is stamped with a sharp Original Mauser Banner logo and the top of the chamber has the RG logo. The right side frame rail is stamped "MAUSER P.08 4" SERIE SPECIALE RENATO GAMBA". However, this pistol does not have the standard RG prefix serial numbering, and may be a pre-production sample. The serial number "4" was added by us per BATFE regulations. Post war eagle/N nitro proofs appear on the bottom of the barrel, left side of the breechbolt and toggle, underside of the receiver (along with a small Mauser banner on the receiver guide lug) and on the top of the frame near the hold open, along with a Munich proof house mark, a sheild style mark around the number 86 and a number 112. Another feature to note is the upper hole for the safety lever detent is drilled completely through the toggle housing, an unusual quality control issue. Original blue finish, strawed small parts and checkered walnut grips. Complete with an original factory magazine, which has a crack across the base and a small chip on the side ring. The metal finish is 99.7%, having a light toggle mark on the back of the frame and one or two minor handling marks. There is also some minor surface spotting on the lower half of the rear grip frame around the lug. Internally the pistol appears unfired. We imported this pistol from Germany and it bears our import mark on the bottom of the frame. Includes a factory blue/white hinged lid box which is in fair condition, not labeled or numbered to the gun, with a manual, brass cleaning rod and takedown tool. FFL, s/n 4, Catalog Number M-164
