| 9mm Luger; 90% blue, good bore, good grips, 4'' barrel, This Luger P08 pistol was issued to the "Croat Legion" of the German Wehrmacht about 1941 after the take over the Balkan state of Croatia by Germany. A standard Mauser S/42 1938 date Luger with two stick eagle/63 proofs and a droop eagle military acceptance stamp on the right side of the frame. Original blue finish and matching number checkered walnut grips. The pistol is all matching, including the magazine, with the exception of the barrel. The barrel has been replaced with a WW1 part, probably from an Erfurt produced pistol. Serial number 2609 in the usual location on the bottom of the barrel. An Imperial military acceptance mark appears on the right side and a crown/RC over an Imperial proof is located over the left side of the barrel. The right side of the barrel is stamped with an eagle/swaz military acceptance mark and the bottom of the barrel is stamped with an additional eagle/swaz military acceptance mark and a stick eagle proof. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Croatian checkerboard shield under the Croat Legions number 369, of the 369th Reinforced Infantry Regiment. The metal finish on the pistol shows normal issue wear and handling and is mechanically in fine condition. The left grip panel has a small chip of wood missing under the safety lever. Included with the pistol is a photocopy of a 1989 Guns & Ammo magazine article on the "Lugers of the Croat Legion", and a photograph of Croatian patches, one from the "Croat Legion". Also, an original Croatian shoulder patch, an original Air Legion badge with enameled shield, and an original 1st type Wireless Operators badge, all in good condition with intact pins on the badges.
