| With Cyrillic manufacture/inspection markings on both the blade and scabbard- and dated 1944, this fine original Russian Cossack Shaska Dragoon Sword is a genuine example and has a spotless 32" blade, with a brass/wood handle. Used by mounted troops, the scabbard is made of a dark wood, no cracks and has brass hardware and drag. The Shashka goes back to the mountain tribes of the Caucasus in the 12th and 13th centuries. These dreaded warriors had no Rival on horseback, and the Shashka was instrumental in their tactics. In the Russian Empire, the Shashka was the weapon chosen by the Cossacks. These fiercely democratic warriors were the Most coveted mercenaries in Eastern Europe. A rare original for sure, call us. |
