| 45 Caliber; fair bore, good stock, 28'' barrel, Records show this Sharps rifle was shipped to Carlos Gove of Denver Colorado in February of 1877. Chambering believed to be 45 2 6/10 (45-100 Sharps) straight case, but will need to be checked by a competent gunsmith. Heavy round barrel with silver blade fixed front sight. Elevation adjustable buckhorn style rear sight. Blue/patina mix metal with some rust spotting. Stamped on top of the barrel with the OLD RELIABLE logo and "SHARPS RIFLE CO BRIDGEPORT CONN.". Caliber designation "CAL 45" stamped over the chamber. The left side of the barrel is marked "BUSINESS 45". Frame and lock are unmarked. Walnut stock. Pewter forend tip. Double set triggers. Action functions well. The bore has fairly strong rifling, with corrosion and pitting throughout. Antique., s/n 1596xx |
