| 40 Caliber; 89% blue, fair bore, good stock, 28'' barrel, 40-70 Sharps caliber. Blued finish part round/part octagon barrel with fixed front and RS Lawrence marked ladder rear sights. Casehardened frame with trace case color. Walnut stock. Flat checkered steel buttplate. Stamped on top of the barrel with the OLD RELIABLE logo and caliber designation "CALIBRE 40" behind the rear sight. Marked in front of the rear sight "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN.". Stamped on the left side of the frame "SHARPS RIFLE CO./PAT. APR. 6, 1859". Double set triggers. Action functions well, triggers are set light. Forend has a sliver of wood missing at the upper edge tip. This rifles serial number is 3 numbers off a rifle known to have been shipped to B.K. & Co. in 1877. Antique., s/n 1577xx |
