| 45 Caliber; fair bore, fair stock, 30'' barrel, Shipping records indicate that this Sharps rifle was shipped to the major firearms dealer of the times Schuyler Hartley Graham (Harley and Graham) of New York in December of 1877, and then to E.C. Meacham of St Louis in April of 1878 for unknown reasons. Chambering believed to be 45-110 however will need to be determined by a competent gunsmith as we have no cartridge to test or check chambering. Originally blued finish with casehardened frame, metal has turned light gray patina with dark spotting and some light pitting on edges of the barrel. Heavy octagon barrel with fixed front sight with silver blade. Ladder rear sight. Plain walnut stock. The buttstock has a crack on the right between the lockplate and upper tang with a sliver of wood missing along the lockplate edge. Glue repaired crack on the left side from the end of the tang running around to the lockplate screw. Double set triggers. Stamped on top of the barrel with the OLD RELIABLE logo and "SHARPS RIFLE CO BRIDGEPORT, CONN.". Caliber designation stamped over the barrels chamber "CAL. 45". Stamped on the left side of the frame "SHARPS RIFLE CO./PAT". Action functions well. Triggers adjusted for light pull. The bore has strong rifling however has corrosion and pitting throughout.
