| 44 S&W Special; very good+ bore, good grips, 6.5'' barrel, 1st model mfr'd 1908-1915. Factory nickel finish with genuine pearl grips, which are well fitted to the grip frame and likely original from the factory. Stamped on top of the barrel in two lines with the S&W address and patent dates 1894, 1895,1896, 1901 and 1906. Casehardened trigger and hammer, both retaining at least 80% colors. The metal finish has its share of small scratches for years of handling. There are small areas of corrosion on some sharp edges, with spots on the right frame and barrel. Both grip panels have some chipping around the bottom edges. The back of the frame is engraved with a previous owners initials in block letters "K.W.". Serial numbers match on the cylinder and barrel. This revolver is in fine mechanical condition and the bore is bright with fairly sharp rifling. Cylinder chambers are pretty clean and free of excessive corrosion. Turn line on the cylinder is evident however it doesn't appear the gun was fired much, played with, handled and shuffled around inside a dresser drawer more than anything., s/n 123xx |
