| 50-70 Caliber; 40% blue, poor bore, very good stock, 36'' barrel, U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MFG in 1863 and Converted in 1869 to breech Trapdoor single shot. The action works very well. The bore is very corroded. the lock is marked 1863 and has an EAGLE over U.S. over SPRINGFIELD and the Breech Block is DATED 1869 with an Eagle head cartouche. This indicates the year of conversion. The metal finish is thinning with dark spotting on the barrel. The front sight is a blade and the rear is a ladder style. The finish on the receiver and lock plate is very dark. The stock is in good condition, with numerous handling marks and dings the buttplate has patina overall. Included is a US Springfield socket bayonet stamped US in good condition with mild scattered patina. ANTIQUE, s/n 31xx |
