| 8x57mm; fair bore, good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Late T series 98K manufactured in Czechoslovakia by Steyr Daimler Puch, Stamped on top of the receiver ring "Mod. 98" over "bnz 45". Phosphate finish with blued upper and lower screw kept stamped welded bands. Stamped on the right side of the receiver ring with an upside down eagle/623 proof. An eagle/WaA623 proof is located on the right side of the rear sight base sleeve. Matching bolt and components. Stamped trigger guard is marked "SVW" with an eagle/135 proof. Stamped floorplate marked "byf" with an eagle/135 proof. Magazine follower is stamped on top "lxr". Rear sight leaf and base are matching, the base with an eagle/623 proof. The laminated stock and handguard are both un-nmbered. Originality of the stock to the rifle is questionable as it has a takedown ring thru the butt. Cupped buttplate w/o the hole. The stock is late, having no cutout for a band spring or provision for a cleaning rod, with the screwed on metal plate at the tip. The stock appears to have been lightly sanded and there is a delamination split along the top at the heel and a tight split along the bottom. The bore has strong rifling however there are areas of heavy rust and some pitting., s/n 56xxT |
