| 58 Caliber; good bore, good stock, 40'' barrel, Lock marked with the American Eagle motif and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". 1863 date behind the hammer. Amercian Eagle motif on the side of the bolster. Walnut stock with two faint inspector marks on the left side flat. U.S. marked buttplate tang. V/P and eagleshead on the left side of the barrel. 1864 date on top of the barrel. Barrel and fittings in the white. Spring kept bands. 2 leaf rear sight. Original slotted ramrod. Lock functions fine. Bore is bright with pitting. Stock has small dings and dents overall. There is a crack on the bottom in front of the trigger guard tang. Metal turned patina in places with mottled spotting overall and moderate pitting. Pitting around the bolster area. Included is an original bayonet, blued finish 18" blade US marked, in fair uncleaned original condition, having some rusting and pitting. |
