| LOT OF TWO HELMETS 1. M1 Liner - Liners did not pass insp. Turned into toys MFG by St. Clair Rubber Co. With head band and suspension that needs repaired. Overall, in good condition. 2. M1 Shell & Chin Strap. Pot/Swivel Bale/ Rear Seam / Possible Overlord Mission. Naval officials required personal involved in landing and beach operations to paint a gray stripe around the helmet. Apparently, there was concern that the Navy personal personnel might be pressed into Army service by mistake. This helmet is typical of many worn by the USN personal in Normandy, with its two-inch-wide gray stripe |
