THE RIFLE WAS ORIGINALLY A MODEL 1896 RIFLE MADE AT WF BERN IN 1898 AND LATER CONFIGURED AS A M1896/11 BETWEEN 1912/1920. THE RIFLE WAS LATER PRIVATIZED. THE BLUING IS EVEN THROUGHOUT.
