Description:
450/455; 80% blue, excellent bore, good grips, 6'' barrel, This revolver was owned by Thomas Kane McClintock Bunbury, 2nd Baron of Rothdonnell 1848-1922. This revolver was manufactured in 1908, original bright blued finish and checkered walnut grips. Matching serial number cylinder. Marked on top of the barrel rib "WILKINSON SWORD CO PALL MALL, LONDON.". Marked on the left side of the barrel strap "WILKINSON-WEBLEY '05". The right side of the frame is marked with the Webley & Scott winged bullet logo serial number and arched WEBLEY/PATENTS. The caliber designation appears on the left side of the barrel lug along with the export marking "ENGLAND". The left grip panel has the inlaid oval with the owners initials engraved T.K.R. The leather covered case has the owners initials T K R embossed on the top of the lid. Red felt lined compartmented interior, includes an original vintage oil bottle and the original leather case straps. Compartment with lid for additional accessories/ammunition, not included, however there is a small 2.25 inch blade folding knife inside the compartment. The knife appears to be of the period with carved pearl handles and halmarked markings on the left side of the blade. The case is missing the carry handle. The case lock is missing its key. The finish on the revolver has areas of loss, several small scratches and tiny dings. Also areas on the frame where an abrasive was used at some point to clean leaving light scratching in the finish. The grips show wear and handling but no major damage. The grip frame strap finish has faded to mostly patina. The revolver is mechanically fine and has a bright clean bore and cylinder chambers. Also includes an original leather full flap holster with leather shoulder strap which has a small pouch which contains a broad arrow proofed J. Hudson & Co nickeled officers whistle, patent dated 1901. The holster is marked on the belt loop on the reverse "WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON" and is in very nice condition. The shoulder strap has surface leather cracking however is complete, intact and serviceable. A very impressive set of British officer private purchase equipment. Consignor supplied an information sheet on Thomas Kane with additional information on his family history and titles., s/n 1247xx
