| 44-40 Winchester; 75% blue, good bore, good stock, 24'' barrel, 3rd model, manufactured in 1888. Original blued metal finish, Original walnut stock with crescent butt. Round barrel with fixed front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight. Integral dust cover rail on top of the receiver, cover with serrated edges. Stamped on top of the barrel "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN CT / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860.". Caliber designation over the chamber "44 W.C.F.". "44 Cal" engraved on the bottom of the brass cartridge elevator. Butt trap in the stock with cleaning rod sections. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling, shows fairly light corrosion throughout and a couple spots of pitting. Scattered light rust spotting on metal. Antique., s/n 2734xx |
