| 44 WCF; fair bore, fair stock, 24.5'' barrel, Manufactured in 1888. Original metal finish turned a spotty patina, traces of original blued finish, scattered minor surface rusting. Original plain walnut stock in overall good condition, the right side of the forend has an old grain split which runs almost the full length below the upper edge. The stock butt has cracks on both sides of the toe. Full octagon barrel with original fixed front buckhorn elevation adjustable rear sights. The top of the barrel is stamped with the Winchester address and King's Improvement patent dates in two lines. Upper receiver tang engraved with the model. The rifle is import marked on the frame. Brass elevator, marked "44 Cal" has been cleaned. Original sliding dust cover present. Mechanically fine, complete and original. The bore has strong fairly sharp rifling, showing corrosion throughout. Antique, s/n 2832xxB |
