| 38-40 Win; fair bore, fair stock, 20'' barrel, Manufactured in 1890. Patina metal. Original plain walnut stock. Fixed front and original ladder rear sights. Original saddle ring and sliding dust cover. "Kings Improvement" markings on top of barrel. Upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873". The top front edge of the frame has been filed down flat, presumably from the previous installation of a longer rear sight. The metal has some dark spotting, with fairly even patina over all. The magazine tube has a dent on the lower left side and a few minor dings. The forend has a small sliver of wood missing on the left side upper edge at the tip. The stock has hairline graiin cracks on both side running back from the upper tang. Mechanically fine. Bore has strong rifling, frost and pitting throughout. Antique, s/n 3497xx |
