| 45-70 GOVT; 92% blue, very good bore, very good stock, 32'' barrel, Original blued finish, casehardened frame, mounted in a walnut buttstock and full length forend held wit two spring kept barrel bands. Fixed front sight, Buffington rear sight. Original clearing rod. Stamped on the top of the barrel forward of the rear sight "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.-". The caliber designation "45-70" is stamped on top of the barrel at the frame. The serial number and 1879 patent date are located on the bottom tang. The metal finish shows even slight thinning on the barrel with wear on the humps of the barrel bands. There are several tiny dings on top of the barrel near both bands. The frame has generous case color, showing areas of light spotting and a few light scratches. Mechanically fine. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, showing visible light corrosion throughout.
