Mit 7,62 × 51 mm NATO – .308 WIN des M14 ersetzte dieser allmählich den M1 Garand im US-Armeedienst bis 1961 und schließlich den US-Marine-Korpsdienst bis 1965. Der M14 wurde von 1959 bis 1970 zum Standardinfanteriegewehr für die US-Armee in den USA, Europa und Südkorea. Der M14 ist das letzte amerikanische “Battle Rifle”, hier aufgelegt von Norinco.
