Description (Top):

The Glock 18 Gen. 2 is a Glock 17 with a factory-fitted selector mechanism that allows you to choose between semi-automatic and fully automatic fire. The selector lever is located on the left, rear side of the slide.   The Glock 18 Gen. 2 was developed at the request of anti-terrorist units in 1986. The first versions corresponded to the Glock 17, later a Glock 18C with integrated compensator holes was also marketed.   Although the Glock 18 Gen. 2 looks very similar to the Glock 17, the slide, barrel and frame are not interchangeable for safety reasons. However, the Glock 18 Gen. 2 can accept all magazines of the double-row 9mm Glocks (see Glock magazines 9mm Para). The Glock 18 Gen. 2 was delivered with 17+2 round magazines as standard. Normal Glocks were/are delivered with magazines without the +2 extension.   According to the additional operating instructions (see Attachement), the Glock 18 Gen. 2 has a cadence of 1,300 rounds per minute in fully automatic fire; a 33-round magazine is thus emptied within 1.6 seconds (!).   The standard scope of delivery in 1993 included: - Glock 18 Gen. 2 - two 19-round magazines (17-round magazines with original Glock +2 extensions) - plastic box - cleaning rod - cleaning brush - Operating instructions for the Glock 17 Gen. 2 - Additional operating instructions for Glock 18 Gen. 2   Also shown are: - Glock 33 round magazine (31 rounds with original Glock +2 extension, see Glock magazines 9mm Para) - Drum Magazine (50 rounds) for Glock, manufactured in South Korea   The shown second generation Glock 18 (Gen. 2) was acquired in 1993 and only fired once to check the function.   Dating Glock pistols The Glock pistols which were proof fired in Austria have three additional letters next to the Viennese proof sign ("NPV"). These letters indicate the date of proof or manufacture. The letters are resolved as follows: The first letter is the coded month: E: January L: February N: March B: April S: May Z: June G: July P: August I: September C: October V: November A: December Letters 2. and 3. are the year of manufacture (19xx or 20xx) O: 0 W: 1 K: 2 R: 3 F: 4 M: 5 H: 6 Y: 7 T: 8 D: 9 The Glock 17 Gen. 1 on this Picture (code "NTF") was manufactured in March 1984.
