Die vorliegende Waffe mit der Numer TZT6306 diente in den 1990er-Jahren als Evaluationswaffe für eine Neuausrüstung der Kantonspolizei Basel-Stadt.
Sie verfügt über einen Safe-Action-Abzug analog der Glock-Pistolen; der Abzugswiderstand ist bei jedem Schuss gleich, die Waffe wird immer vorgespannt getragen. Es handelt sich nicht um einen DAO-Abzug (Double-Action-Only), da die Waffe vorgespannt ist.
Eine manuelle Sicherung oder ein Entspannhebel ist nicht vorhanden.
Da die S&W Pistole bei der Evaluation nicht berücksichtigt wurde, wurden die zur Verfügung gestellten Waffen durch die Waffenhandlung Beyerer auf dem freien Markt verkauft.
 
Die Kantonspolizei Basel-Stadt entschied sich für den Kauf von SIG Sauer P228.
