Mit der Pistolenpatrone 41 (9mm Pist Pat 41) soll es zu Zuführprobleme in einigen 9mm Luger Pistolen (nicht Schweizer Bauart) gekommen sein. Das Geschoss der Pistolenpatrone 41 (9mm Pist Pat 41) ist runder als bei normalen 9mm Luger Patronen. Die neue Pistolenpatrone 14 (9mm Pist Pat 14) hat ein heute übliches Geschoss nach CIP-Norm. Die Pistolenpatrone 14 (9mm Pist Pat 14) wird von RUAG hergestellt, welche die selbe Munition auch unter ihrer zivilen Marke "Geco" vertreibt. Die neue Pistolenpatrone 14 (9mm Pist Pat 14) wurde bereits im Vorfeld der Einführung an die Schützenvereine verteilt um diese ausgiebig zu testen.
